POETS OF FRESNO: SUMMER READING SERIES, 2010

(Fresno, CA) Three poetry readings will be held this summer to raise funds for publishing Fresno poets. The Poets of Fresno: Summer Reading Series, 2010 will feature established and up-and-coming Fresno poets in events that will support the efforts of poet and Fresno native David St. John who edits the Ash Tree Poetry Series of Fresno Poets.  The poetry readings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of June, July, and August 2010 at the Revue Café in Fresno’s Tower District.

     “The readings will be historic Fresno poetry events,” said Michael Cole, an organizer of the series. “There’ll be original Fresno poets, up-and-coming, and new young poets.” Fresno is recognized world-wide as a center of poetry, with over 75 poets from Fresno having achieved national and international reputations.

     The Ash Tree Poetry Series, is published by Tebot Bach, a non-profit literary press.   Fresno poets published in the series include Michael Clifton, Bruce Boston, and Sam Pereira.  In the fall, Spring Drive, by Glover Davis will be released.

     The first reading on June 22 will include C. G. Hanzlicek, Jeffrey Schultz, David Dominguez, Sylvia Savala, Michael Medrano, Lee Herrick, and Joseph Voth. There is a $5.00 suggested donation at the door.

     Co-sponsors of the reading series are: KFSR 90.7 FM Fresno, the Henry Madden Library at CSU Fresno, and the Fresno Poets Association.

     The Poets of Fresno: Summer Reading Series, 2010 events will be held on June 22, July 27 and August 24, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Revue Café, 920 East Olive Avenue, Fresno, CA.
