
Marcus Chinn who received his MFA in poetry from CSU Fresno at the end of the spring 2010 semester was a Philip Levine scholar at CSUF after attending Olympic College and the University of Washington on various scholarships. While at CSUF, Chinn interned with The Normal School literary magazine, read for the Philip Levine Poetry Prize, and edited the San Joaquin Review Anthology. His poem “Burnt Toast” appeared in the Cortland Review ’06.
Chinn was born and spent his childhood in Port Angeles, Washington, then lived in Poland during his high school years. Currently unemployed, he has previously worked as a lifeguard, assistant campground manager, assembly line worker at Milgard Windows, a Wal-Mart associate, fireworks seller, church janitor, teaching associate, and writing center tutor. He lives in Fresno with his wife Andrea.
Chinn enjoys watching old black and white movies, cartoons and slasher flicks. He also plays many different pen and paper, play-by-post, and computer role-playing games. He takes his dog out for walks at least three times a day and learns a little bit more about the world each time he picks up her shit.
