Angela Armstrong

Angela Armstrong was born in Bakersfield, California in 1975 and grew up on the weekend rodeo circuit with a colorful family of barrel racers, ropers, and real life horse whisperers.  She attended Clovis West High School and then earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Fresno State in 1998.  She later returned to Fresno State for a teaching credential in Mathematics and decided to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing as well, which she completed in 2006.

Her work has appeared in the anthology Gift of Experience, and in Atlanta Review, Bellingham Review, Bellevue Literary Review, Alehouse Poetry Review, and North American Review, which recently nominated one of her poems for a Pushcart Prize.  Currently, she teaches Trigonometry and coaches Academic Decathlon at Sunnyside High School and, in her off hours, is an enthusiastic student of cabaret-style belly dance.  She lives in a wonderfully creaky-floored house in Fresno’s Tower District.
