Ana Garza

     Ana Garza G’z, winner of the Ernesto Trejo Award in poetry in 1999 for the poem “Polishing a Crucifix,” is a multi-genre writer who has completed two poetry manuscripts (circulating to publishers), a novel, novella, and half a dozen short stories.  She has published numerous poems in both print and on-line periodicals, with seven new poems forthcoming.  In addition, Garza G’z does freelance technical writing.

    Garza G’z grew up in Earlimart, California.   She graduated from CSU Fresno in 1994 with BA degrees in Linguistics and English, then went on to earn an MFA in Poetry.  She works as a Translator and Community Interpreter (English/Spanish) .  Formerly, she was an Adjunct Lecturer at Reedley College, Madera College Center, and CSU Fresno.  Garza G’z lives in Fresno.  She is actively involved in the work of the Print Disabilities Coalition to make books and electronic texts available to everyone.  Her favorite non-literary pastime is knitting, her current project being a pair of stockings reconstructed from a body buried in 1562.
